A Week In Cabo San Lucas

A somewhat last minute effort by a friend of a friend to coordinate a trip in order to make use of a reserved timeshare resulted in me spending a week with good friends on the beach at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. Yeah, I can already feel the sarcastic pity from the Internets.

Vacation in Victoria - A Recap

So. Finally, after years and years and years of trying, I finally convinced my mom to take a week off for a good, solid vacation.

Exploring San Francisco with the Cuz

After thoroughly enjoying ourselves when my cousin Kristal and her family came up to visit last year, we decided we couldn't wait a year to meet up again. So we planned a long weekend down in CA to spend some time together this past weekend.

Snow and Poorly-Timed Travel Plans

Well, it seems I'm keeping up with my tradition of planning trips that fall during or immediately after a hefty winter storm. Today's plans include getting up to SeaTac to catch a flight down to Sacramento, CA.

Holidays + Insanity = Profit!

So, I've determined that Alaska Airlines has found some way to make a profit on mass suicides. I mean why else did they force their passengers listen to 45 minutes of rip-your-ears-off annoying and campy arrangements of holiday tunes over the airplane speakers while we waited at our gate this morning?

Perilous Weather

So, Mother Nature decided to take a white, frosty dump on us last night. This morning, I awoke to a couple of inches of snow on the ground, freezing temperatures, and ice on most of the roadways.

Thanksgiving at PDX

Right now, I'm sitting here at Gustav's at the PDX airport grabbing some lunch and catching up on my blogroll thanks to the free wi-fi here (hint, hint SEA and LAX -- I'm scowling at you! ).

Enjoying Contrast

Even though I spend most of my days in an office building, under flourescent light, furiously working away on a phone and laptop, I do get a few minutes to get outside to hunt down nourishment. Yesterday and today, I found myself walking around El Segundo, CA in some pretty warm weather on my lunch breaks.

Hellish Tuesday Morning and I Don't Care

I'm starting to have a newfound respect for the herbal supplements I've been given by my naturopathic physician. With the way this morning has been going so far, my head would have already asploded had I been in my typical state of mind.

That Explains Why the Only Complimentary Beverage was Ensure

Shortly after my plane landed at SeaTac, a flight attendent made the following announcement:"We have had a very special guest on board our aircraft today. Today is his 97th birthday, and he just completed his very first flight!

Day of Delay

Note: This entry, due to my fatigue and irritable nature today, is just one long rant. You have been forewarned. With the recent "no liquids" restriction when flying, I decided I needed to get up earlier than usual this morning to beat the airline commuter rush at the security checkpoint.

Time Away with Friends

I spent the early part of this week away from home and work to go camping on the coast with some very good friends. This trip turned out to be exactly what I needed.

A Week Recapped

It's Friday, once again. And for the first time in awhile, it actually feels like Friday and not the middle of a never-ending week.

Overheard en route to SeaTac

Flight Attendant: "Does it feel good to go through life being mean to everyone? "Bitchy Passenger Who Refused to put her bag away for the flight descent: "I'm not mean.

Overheard at LAX

All the crazies were apparently flying out of LA tonight. My flight was delayed so I spent a decent amount of time wandering around the terminal, which made for some interesting entertainment.

My Tribute To Mr. Walken

My hotel room just cracks me up. When I travel to LA, my travel agent usually puts me up at a hotel I like to describe as “pointlessly ornate.” I don’t mind it too much, as the breakfast service is pretty decent, and it’s close to a shopping mall.

Anticipation

This morning I woke up at the wee hour of 2:45am to get ready and catch my flight down to LA. I normally love my trips down to my boss’s office, but today I’m in a nervous mood, simply because I know my day will be spent in meetings which may involve lengthy debates on an issue I’m quite passionate about.Like most anyone, I don’t prefer to leave a debate without getting my way on things of this nature.

Gone and Back Again

This weekend Kevin and I went up the road to Vancouver BC to help our friend Matt celebrate his graduation from his foundation course at Vancouver Film School. Upon arriving in town, I quickly started to see why Kevin was nervous about bringing me up here.

Invisible Snow

Last night, the local news began hyping the next "massive winter storm that will most certainly have disastrous effects on the Puget Sound region". It was supposed to come in today, and by the tone of the report, it should've buried everything from Olympia to Everett in at least 10 feet of snow.

How to Lose and Find a Car

I got home a little after 1:30am this morning, after getting in from a late-night flight from Nashville. I fortunately got a little sleep on the flight from Dallas back to SeaTac, but it was the kind that left me with lots of neck and shoulder pain, because surprisingly, airplane seats aren't exactly feather beds.

Visiting the Benders...Bendonians...er, Bend People

We've spent the last few days taking in the exotic locale of Bend, OR. Okay, maybe it's not that exotic, but it's defintely a locale much more interesting than I expected. For a wedding present, Mandy set us up with a luxurious overnight package at McMenamins down in Bend, and so we thought we'd make use of that, followed by some camping at Crater Lake. The drive down there was gorgeous.

Vancouver!

This weekend's travel plans were a lot less hectic than last week, fortunately. We went down the road to Vancouver, WA so I could spend some quality time with my Mom to celebrate a belated birthday, and so Kevin and I both could spend some time with his parents. On Saturday, we drove down.

Galt!

Today was probably not as fun for Kevin as it was for me. Our flight to Sacramento was later this afternoon, so we decided to check out the town I lived in for most of my elementary school and junior high years.

Fresno!

Today Kevin and I went down the road to see the Freitas clan in Fresno. We arrived at Henry's house (Kevin's cousin) and got a tour on the newly bought abode as well as a rundown on future plans for updating the place.

Modesto!

Today, we got up at a decent hour, headed over to the restaurant next door to get some breakfast and pick up some pie for the reception this afternoon. Good food, despite having to tolerate Kevin and Stephanie uttering "Mmm Pie" whenever they thought it was appropriate (or inappropriate for that matter). We arrived at my Dad's house a bit before the event started to visit a bit and see the place.

Drive, Fly, Drive

Today, Kevin and I headed out for a weekend of informal wedding receptions with friends and family in California. We were planning to meet Mandy and Stephanie in the Vancouver area so we could all be shuttled to PDX together.
