Following advice from my doctor, I've eliminated caffeine from my diet (mostly). So, instead of drinking coffee or black tea in the mornings, I now drink a multi-vitamin drink along with my breakfast. I have to say, the fact that I don't get extremely tired a couple hours later is quite nice, but there still are some side effects I'm trying to work out.
For instance, this morning I got up a couple hours before Kevin. After reading my weekend Wall Street, I decided it was time take a shower. But once in the shower, I felt like something was...odd. It was a bit hard to see with all the steam, so I pushed my glasses farther down my nose to look over them. Then, as I was shampooing my hair, I heard something fall. I looked down and realized I knocked my glasses off my face. As I picked them up and put them back on, I remember thinking how stupid it was that they always fell off my face when I washed my hair. Someone should really invent something to fix that.
Then? Then I realized I must've been confusing my life with that of my evil twin from another dimension, because when the hell have I ever showered with my glasses on?!
As I stumbled out of the shower to set them on the counter, I did what any normal person would do when they realize they're prone to overlooking the extremely obvious and glanced in the mirror to make sure I wasn't also trying to inefficiently wash my pajamas. Fortunately, that didn't appear to be the case.
However, at that moment, it became abundantly clear just how much fun this caffeine detox is going to be. Oh well. Being absent-minded enough to haphazardly wind up in interesting predicaments always makes for good blog fodder. Just don't be surprised by anything you read on this site for the next couple of weeks.
